Even if your child is healthy well-child visits are important because it is good time to focus on your child’s wellness. This means talking about your child’s health and how it can be improved. Preventive care is important to keeping children healthy and you will receive medical advice about how to keep your child safe, how to prevent injuries, counseling for good health, diet and physical activity, and development, as well as dentist referrals if needed. At these well-child exams your child may get vaccines and or added screenings if needed. The health care provider will record your child’s height, weight, and other important information. Hearing, vision, and other screening tests may be part of some visits.
